YOUR feature on Maindee baths (4 August ) brought back many memories of a much used and loved pool.
To see it’s present state is quite horrifying but any thought of renovating it – even if lottery money could be secured – would appear pointless because of the absence of parking.
An omission from the article was a mention of Jocelyn Hooper, daughter of Bernice, who swam in three Commonwealth games; and of the former organiser of physical education in Newport, the late Ralph Diaper, who gave wonderful diving demonstrations.
(The diving boards had been removed at the time the photograph was taken.)
